I’m standing for a Better Benambra. We need to focus on creating opportunities through new jobs and training. We need a local clean energy boom that will deliver for our communities and our environment.
Jobs and training.
Our geographical position is our advantage. Benambra is situated between Melbourne, Sydney and Canberra, and we need to cement ourselves as a regional employment and training hub. I want to focus on building Wodonga as a regional centre of excellence in education and training. We need to be able to train, and retrain, our workers for those industries that will form the basis of our future economic growth.

The climate is changing and we need to be on the front foot. Tackling climate change is a challenge, but if we do it well, the transition to a clean energy future will bring enormous benefit to our region. I have been a strong advocate of community energy, and believe that connected, rooftop systems, and small scale solar farms, provide the best solution for our region. I will continue to support our communities to make the most of the renewable energy transition, and I will always support strong government action on climate change.
Benambra is a stunning place to visit. From the shores of lake Hume, the wineries of Rutherglen, historic Beechworth and Yackandandah, the ski fields, and the little towns that dot the valleys. As Mayor of the Indigo Shire I am proud to have delivered tourism infrastructure that will drive our future economic growth, including the Beechworth to Yackandandah Rail Trail. It’s infrastructure projects like these that have the potential to boost our tourism industry, bringing in new visitors that support our local businesses.
